Holiday Open House – December 6th  from 6pm -9pm

Savannah’s beautiful spirit becomes even more exquisite during the holiday season, and City Market is no exception. Stroll in the flickering light of 500+ luminaria lining our two-block courtyard, serenaded by Christmas carolers. Drop in for treats in City Market shops and watch for a glimpse of Father Christmas. All businesses remain open through the entire event to serve a holiday treat within each store.

 Christmas for Kids Celebration – December 7th from 11am – 2pm

Make ornaments! Decorate cookies! Get Grinched (with hair and makeup)! Meet Father Christmas and take a picture with him in a carriage! All of this, plus face painting, choir music, inflatables, a holiday sing-a-long with special guests and a performance of How The Dancing Grinch Stole Christmas add up to a day of fun the whole family can truly enjoy.

New Year’s Eve Celebration – December 31st from 9pm – 1am

Every New Year’s Eve, City Market becomes Savannah’s “celebration central” – and this year promises to be better than ever. Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop Now Open in Savannah City Market!

There is a new kid on the block, and we’re excited to welcome Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop to the Savannah City Market. The Savannah location first opened on September 1, 2019; however, this was right in the middle of Hurricane Dorian. Thankfully, we weathered the storm. Now that things are settled, it’s a good time to learn about this new addition to Savannah from the owners Christina & John Bonaccorse.

What made you decide to open in Savannah City Market?

Savannah holds a special place in our hearts. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed many vacations in Savannah and always left with a warm feeling of being at home. My husband, John, has even worked on a few films in Savannah so we’ve had the chance to stay/live in Savannah for a few months at a time. When we decided to open a second RNTS location (the first Rhen’s Nest opened in Glenwood Park from 2015-2018; a second location opened in Ponce City Market in Atlanta, GA in 2017), Savannah was our first choice. We feel extremely lucky to have found our second home in Savannah City Market and look forward to being here for years to come.

What do you offer to the Savannah area that you think is missing or unique?

Toys! Unique toys that spark imaginative and creative play. “Unplugged play” is our motto so we’re deliberate in selecting toys that encourage children and families to disconnect from electronics. Although, there are retail stores in the area that sell or have a small toy selection, there is no actual toy shop in Savannah. We discovered this on our frequent visits with our daughter, Rhen, and thought it was unfortunate that such a magical town didn’t have its own toy shop. So now we’re here to fill that void and be the go-to destination for visitors and locals alike.

What is it like to experience The Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop?

We want adults to be reminded of their childhood and children to be in awe of what our store has to offer. Nothing makes our hearts melt more than to hear a child walk through our doors exclaiming, “This is the best toy store ever!” I always giggle to myself and think, “Just wait kiddo, you’ve only just stepped in the front door…”

We strive to make everyone feel welcome, we want them to feel like family. One of our goals is for every guest to take home a fond memory of RNTS. Something that they will tell their friends and family members about. We want to be known and remembered as that amazing little toy shop (even if they don’t remember our name) in Savannah, GA.

For more information or to shop online, visit the Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop online at www.rhensnesttoyshop.com, and follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Whenever you’re at Savannah City Market stop by, say hi, and play!

Summer Fun Guide to Savannah City Market

Savannah, Georgia is a top destination in the world for visitors looking for southern hospitality with food and fun for everyone. Of all the wonderful things to do in Savannah, City Market is in the center of all of the action with art, music, food, and more. We get lots of questions every year, especially during the summer. Here is a list of Savannah City Market Frequently Asked Questions to help you plan for good times with us.

When is live music playing in the courtyard? Wild Wing Cafe has live music in the courtyard every day. Get the schedule and specials on the Wild Wing Cafe Savannah City Market website.

When are you open? Minimum operating hours for all businesses are Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Many businesses are open later into the evening. Contact our vendors for their hours.

When is the splash pad open? The Ellis Square Splash Pad typically opens Memorial Day weekend and the hours are normally dawn to dusk. You can call the City of Savannah Parks & Recreation at 912-651-6610 to confirm. They manage the splash pad.

Can we order drinks to go? You may carry open drinks as long as they are in a plastic, 16-ounce cup (not bottles, mugs or flasks) and must remain in the Historic District (the area from River Street to Jones Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to West Broad Street). This video from Visit Savannah sums it all up nicely!

What are your local alcohol laws for serving on Sundays? Packaged liquor may be sold between 8 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Packaged beer and wine may be sold at any time except between 11:45 p.m. on Saturday night and 11 a.m. on Sunday. All Savannah bars and restaurants cannot sell alcohol before 11:00 a.m. on Sundays. In other words, packaged liquor cannot be sold on Sundays and packaged beer and wine can only be sold after 12:30 p.m. on Sundays. However, restaurants may serve all alcohol on Sundays after 11 a.m.

How do I get booked to play music in Savannah City Market? All music acts are booked directly by our vendors. Check out this list and contact the venues for bookings. Hope to hear you in Savannah City Market soon!

Father’s Day Gift Ideas to Knock Your Dad’s Socks Off

We hear it every year — “Mother’s get all the attention and dad’s get no love.” “Everybody forgets about Father’s Day.” “We go all out for moms and all we get is a pair of socks and a tie.” We hear you dads, so this year we are creating a gift guide that’s all about the fathers. Consider this a Father’s Day gift from Savannah City Market to all of you!

Food: It’s been said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. If this is the case with your dad, then treat him to some of the best seafood and steaks in town. Belford’s Savannah has weekly specials as well as staple menu items that has earned Belford’s recognition as one of the best restaurants in The Hostess City. But, if you want to keep it simple, head over to Vinnie Van GoGo’s for the best pizza in town (Yes, you can get a beer with that!).

Cigars: When it comes to buying cigars, you don’t want to skip out on quality or selection. You’re in luck because Savannah Cigars offers both quantity and quality. Stop in for cigars, smoking accessories, e-cigarettes, pipes, and more.

Beverages: The Georgia Tasting Room is more than wine. Get locally sourced craft beers, mead, moonshine, and more.

Sweets: What better way to show your dad that you care than a box filled with gourmet sweets? Savannah’s Candy Kitchen has everything from pralines to peanut brittle in tins and towers. Candy-loaded boxes are definitely better than another tie.

Art: No matter what type of art your dad likes, there is something for every style and budget in Savannah City Market. You’ll find everything from abstract art to street art to fine art. Our artists can create something your dad will remember. Take a look at the gallery list or visit the Art Center to find the right one.

Adventure: Imagine how much fun it would be to explore 6,000 square feet filled with galleries, exhibits, vintage cars, a functioning speakeasy, and more dedicated to all things alcohol. Treat your dad to a great time learning about prohibition at The American Prohibition Museum. It’s not your typical dry museum, but if dad would rather skip the learning and get straight to the drinking, head straight to the speakeasy upstairs. You can also purchase tickets to a cocktail class at Congress Street Up where certified bartenders will teach him how to make classic cocktails. Classes are held every Monday at 6:30 p.m. but limited space is available. Buy online and save even more.

When you’re done with City Market fun, keep the party going in our courtyard to enjoy live music and good company. Check out the music schedule then make plans to give your dad something special this Father’s Day.

However, February is particularly special for creating memories in the city we love, Savannah.

Every Valentines Day, spouses gather to say “I Do” all over again at the Savannah City Market Vow Renewal Ceremony.
